Stefano Persia

STRUCTURAL & SEISMIC ENGINEER

Stefano Persia is a graduate Civil Engineer of “La Sapienza” University of Rome, specialized in earthquake engineering. During his graduation thesis he implemented the SLaMA (Simple Lateral Mechanism Analysis) on unreinforced masonry buildings (existing structures). The method has been introduced years ago for reinforced concrete structures and so far not many attempts have been made to use the method also for unreinforced masonry structures. Stefano has been working hard together with prof. Pampanin and prof. Liberatore in order to adapt the method for unreinforced masonry structures. Furthermore, he tested the method with great results to a real case study:  the M. Lecce high school in Manfredonia (Italy).

He was also involved, as an external consultant, in the “UEFA ELENA” project for the energy efficiency and seismic safety of more than 60 high schools (all historical buildings) owned by the Province of Foggia (Italy). He joined the inspection team and he contributed significantly to carrying out ambient vibration recordings which was used with great results on these buildings.

He joined Hopper Engineering in 2020 in the role of Structural Engineer and seismic analyst.
